At an extraordinary general assembly, the representatives of one-group’s member companies have elected René van Valen as Chairman. René, 48, is shareholder and CEO of one-group’s Dutch member, De Haan. René replaces Niall Mackay who resigned in the wake of the recent sale of Michael Gerson Ltd. “It is a great honour to be at the helm of such a prestigious organisation”, said René, “and I am looking forward to leading one-group forward to new heights as we expand into new services and geographies.”
Jean-Luc Haddad will complete the Board consisting of five members. Jean-Luc, 52, who owns Grospiron International, one-group’s French member, is an experienced industry veteran.
The General Assembly also dealt with the new situation in the UK brought about by Michael Gerson Ltd’s recent sale to two other international moving companies. The decision was taken that Michael Gerson Ltd no longer fulfils certain one-group membership requirements. Therefore and with immediate effect Michael Gerson Ltd. is no longer a member of one-group. “We are grateful to Niall Mackay and his colleagues who have contributed so much to the development of one-group since its inception. ” said René van Valen after the decisive vote.
Lorenz Amiet, the group’s executive vice-chairman, will lead the project to select a new partner in the UK. Several renowned companies expressed an interest in joining one-group after the sale of Michael Gerson was made public. “We are entering discussions with potential partners and are confident that a new partner will be announced within the next quarter”.
